We are a community of educators from all corners of the globe passionate about learning every minute of the day. Everyone—from Ph.D-level instructors with years of language-teaching experience, to former villagers returning as counselors for the first time—brings a unique expertise in language and culture.
Deep in the North Woods of Minnesota, we create a place that is both culturally authentic and uniquely our own. In the Language Villages, everything from the music played to the dishes used in the dining hall reflect the culture each was designed to represent. Immerse yourself in the world of a native speaker, where you can truly learn to live a language, not just speak it.
Because language education alone does not lead to the formation of world citizens, we teach language and culture in global contexts. The lifelong benefits are endless.
We teach language, but also much more. We inspire courageous global citizens
Concordia Language Villages is committed to the values of diversity, equity and inclusion in our programming and employment. Read more here.
It started with an idea. In 1960, Gerhard Haukebo, Ph.D., a Concordia College faculty member, suggested the college initiate an innovative program using immersion techniques to teach language. Since then, we’ve grown to provide programming for youth, adults, educators and professionals in 15 languages.
The success of our last 50+ years is the result of generous support from those who believe in our mission.
Whether your need is for a wedding, family reunion, board meeting, a team-building retreat or an all-inclusive conference, Concordia Language Villages offers a unique retreat center to fit your needs.
